Salerno is a wonderful City to visit, discover, to see, to “eat”, to surprise.

Salerno is the principal town of the province with the same name, and today numbers around 145,000 inhabitants. For a brief period (February to August 1944) Salerno was the capital city of Italy, during the liberation after the allied landings before the fall of Monte Cassino to the allies and the subsequent liberation of Rome. Today it is a lively port town, that is rapidly re-acquiring a relaxing and open Mediterranean atmosphere. The Lungomare Trieste, a promenade 2 km long offers a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Salerno. The cliff, the small wharf for boats docking, dining, artistic lighting are the characteristic features of the promenade of Salerno. Worth a visit also is the Historical Old Town, which has in recent years recovered from being a virtual no-go area to being one of the best preserved historical town centers, full of tiny little passageways and hidden corners.

Every November since 2006, in celebration of Christmas season, the city of Salerno, offers a spectacular artistic exhibition called “Luci d’Artista” (Artistic Lights). This event is a charming show of lights and colours that envelopes in its evocative and fantastic and magic atmosphere. The event is definitely something more than the usual Christmas lights. We are dealing in fact with proper works of art ideated by contemporary artists that stand out for their high stenographic nature and their deeply conceptual and symbolic values.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1522850225128{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9si31bbZ9c”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]The city is divided into three distinct zones: the medieval sector, the 19th century sector and the more densely populated post-war area, with its several apartment blocks.
