International Conference

The WaterEnergyNEXUS conference, a pivotal event addressing one of the most crucial sustainability challenges for both our generation and those to come,
is reaching its landmark 5th edition. Hosted by the Center for Membranes and Advanced Water Technology (CMAT) at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE); this edition promises to be a global nexus for innovation and collaboration. The conference has traversed continents, from Europe to Africa and Asia, reflecting the universal importance of water and energy sustainability.
This year, in collaboration with the Sanitary Environmental Engineering Division (SEED) at the University of Salerno, Italy,

Khalifa University, renowned for its leadership in water, energy, and environmental research and high international rankings, further elevates the event’s stature.
The 5th WaterEnergyNEXUS Conference will leverage an international platform to facilitate the exchange of critical insights into sustainable development goals.
Participants will engage with nature-based solutions, advanced technologies, and best practices through presentations by a distinguished panel of experts serving as plenary and keynote speakers.
A key goal for the 2025 conference edition is to foster enhanced cooperation, integration, and sustainable development across the GCC, Euro-Mediterranean,
Asian, and African regions, with a special focus on the interconnections between water, energy, and achieving carbon neutrality.
The WaterEnergyNEXUS series of conferences are supported by the International Water Association (IWA) and Elsevier.”

**The conference will award (2) The Best Poster and (2) The Best Oral Presentation given by students.

**All works presented at WaterEnergyNEXUS are eligible for submission to collaborating journals (Q1 ISI Journals) for consideration in special issues following the journals’ peer review processes.

        Water
Access to high-quality water is essential to our survival. Clean water and sanitation are our top priorities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as defined by the United Nations (UN)
        Energy
Energy is central to almost every major challenge and opportunity the world faces today. Everyone needs energy and it is essential to ensure universal access to modern energy services through improved efficiency and increased use of renewable sources.
        NEXUS
Water and Energy systems are interdependent and are strongly linked to Human and Ecosystem health. In addition, wasteful use of Water and Energy resources reduces quality of life and contributes to climate change.

                                        PUBLICATIONS

Publishing conference abstracts in a proceeding involves submitting research summaries for review, followed by acceptance and potential revisions. Once accepted, abstracts are presented at the conference and later compiled into the proceedings, which serve as the official record of the research shared. These proceedings are often published with an ISBN and may be indexed in academic databases, enhancing the visibility and impact of the work. The process ensures that the research is formally documented and accessible to the broader academic community, allowing it to be cited and referenced in future studies.

Previous proceedings can be found on the SpringerNature and in Scopus (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-00808-5; https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-13068-8_8). Additionally, all works presented at WaterEnergyNEXUS are eligible for submission to collaborating journals (Q1 ISI Journals) for consideration in special issues following the journals’ peer review processes.
